Vevey
Cycling coach in Vevey
Vevey has the Lavaux vineyard terraces directly behind it, which is the single most useful geographic fact for anyone training here. Stepped paths rise from the lakeside straight into the terraces, giving a hill session with a change of gradient every few hundred metres — the sort of terrain runners elsewhere have to drive to find. The lakeside promenade towards Montreux handles everything flat.
The town is compact and the facilities are close to the centre. It is quieter than Lausanne and Geneva, which means fewer coaches available but also less competition for weekend slots. Corporate bookings from the companies headquartered locally make up a noticeable share of what we arrange here.
This is climbing country, so that is what we coach
Everything here goes up. The vineyard roads of La Côte, the Jura passes, the Alpine cols within an hour of the lake — which means most sessions end up being about climbing well rather than riding fast on the flat. Cadence, pacing a long ascent, when to stand, and how to arrive at the top with something left.
Position and equipment
A session often starts with twenty minutes on your position, because most amateur riders are fighting their bike rather than riding it. Bring your own bike — coaching on an unfamiliar one wastes half the value. Your coach brings nothing you need except judgement.

Common questions
How fit do I need to be?
Your coach rides at your pace. A session is not a group ride with someone stronger than you, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.
Can you help me prepare for a sportive?
Yes, and it is a common reason people book. Tell us the event and the date and the session gets built backwards from it.
What if the weather is bad?
Light rain, we ride. Ice, storms or genuinely dangerous conditions, your coach contacts you and we move the session at no cost.
