Running coach in Davos

Davos sits at 1,560 metres and is the highest town in Europe, which is why endurance athletes have trained here for a century — the altitude does real physiological work, and the valley floor is flat and long enough to use it. The cross-country network running the length of the valley is among the largest in the Alps.

The climate is dry and cold, and the snow is reliable from December into April. Outside winter it becomes hiking and climbing country, with the Jakobshorn and the Parsenn accessible by lift and the Flüela and Sertig valleys leading straight into serious terrain.

Running

What an hour of running coaching actually covers

Usually one of three things. Form — cadence, foot strike, what your arms are doing on a hill. Pacing — most recreational runners run every session at the same uncomfortable middle speed, and fixing that alone changes results. Or race preparation, where the session is built backwards from a date you have in the calendar.

Hills are not optional here

This is not flat country. Any route from the lake goes up, which means hill technique matters more here than it does for someone training in Amsterdam. It also means your coach will likely take you somewhere with a gradient whether or not you asked.

Common questions

I am slow. Will I be able to keep up?

Your coach runs at your pace, not theirs. A coaching session is not a training run with someone fitter than you.

Do you write training plans?

A session can end with a plan for the next few weeks, and many do. Say when you book that this is what you want so your coach builds the hour around it.

What if it rains?

We run. If conditions are genuinely dangerous — ice, storm — your coach will contact you and we move the session at no cost.

Can I book with a friend?

Yes, if you run at roughly similar paces. Choose the 90-minute session so there is time for both of you.
