Davos sits at 1,560 metres and is the highest town in Europe, which is why endurance athletes have trained here for a century — the altitude does real physiological work, and the valley floor is flat and long enough to use it. The cross-country network running the length of the valley is among the largest in the Alps.

The climate is dry and cold, and the snow is reliable from December into April. Outside winter it becomes hiking and climbing country, with the Jakobshorn and the Parsenn accessible by lift and the Flüela and Sertig valleys leading straight into serious terrain.

Two reasons, mostly. Injuries or limitations that a class of twenty cannot accommodate — a knee, a lower back, a pregnancy. And people who find group classes genuinely uncomfortable and would simply never go, but will practise happily in their own living room.

Styles and what to say when you book

Hatha, vinyasa, yin and restorative are all available, and they are very different experiences. If you do not know which you want, describe what you are after instead — stronger, calmer, more mobile, less back pain — and we will match you with someone who works that way.

Common questions

I am not flexible at all. Is that a problem?

No. Flexibility is an outcome, not a prerequisite, and a teacher working with one person adapts everything to the body in front of them.

Do I need a mat?

Bring one if you have one. If not, say so when you book and your teacher brings a spare.

Can I practise during pregnancy?

Yes, with a teacher qualified in prenatal yoga. Say so when you book and include which trimester — it changes the session considerably.
