St. Moritz
Sailing instructor in St. Moritz
St. Moritz sits at 1,800 metres in the Engadin, a high valley with a dry, bright climate that is closer to the Alps' southern side than to the rest of Switzerland. It averages over 300 sunny days a year, and the light at that altitude in February is the reason people keep coming back.
It is the birthplace of alpine winter tourism and it shows: the cross-country network across the frozen lake is among the best in Europe, and the resort supports everything from gentle to serious. Summer brings hiking, riding and one of the highest golf courses in the Alps.
The lakes are not the sea, and that is the point
Lake Geneva, Lucerne and Lugano all produce their own thermal winds that build through the afternoon and die at dusk, which makes them unusually good places to learn: reliable breeze, no tide, and land always in sight. It also makes them tricky in ways the open sea is not, and local knowledge is most of what you are paying for.
Boat and equipment
The boat is arranged as part of the session. Bring a windproof layer, sunglasses with a strap and shoes with a non-marking sole. Everything else, including buoyancy aids, comes with the boat.

Common questions
Do I need experience?
No. First-timers are a normal booking and the session is built around it.
Can we come as a family?
Yes — say how many of you and the ages, and we will match the boat and the instructor accordingly.
What if there is no wind?
Your instructor decides on the morning. If the day is unusable we move it at no cost; there is no point paying to drift.
